Producer Profile

Jorge Rojas, a fourth-generation coffee grower, manages Finca El Jardin in Planadas, Tolima, Colombia. Jorge was introduced to coffee farming at just 13 years old and gained invaluable knowledge under his mother’s guidance. Inheriting a portion of his father’s farm and acquiring land from a neighboring farmer, Jorge established his own Finca El Jardin.

My dream is to become a recognized producer in the region, and I hope that my son will carry on my legacy as part of the next generation of coffee producers.” – Jorge Rojas

Jorge has developed his own fermentation process. First, cherries are handpicked at perfect ripeness. They are then transferred to sealed tanks where they ferment for 72 hours. Following this initial fermentation, the cherries undergo a second round in the same tanks, lasting another 38 hours. Finally, the coffee is laid out to dry. The resulting cup offers intense fruit-forward notes of strawberry, concord grape, and blueberry, complemented by juicy acidity, syrupy sweetness, and a creamy body.
