**This coffee roasts to order on Tuesday of each week**
This coffee is the culmination of 500 smallholder farmers who are members of the Gatunyo-Kigio Farmers Cooperative Society. The producers deliver their cherry to Gakurari Factory, one of the society’s four washing stations. Gakurari Factory employees meticulously process their coffee, which includes 12-16 hours fermentation, 2 days skin drying (thin bed, frequent rotation, and hand sorting of parchment), followed by 10-12 days of regular drying. Coffees from Kenya are graded by bean size and density – this one is an “AB” or screen size 15 & 16. While the larger “AA” size tends to be more prestigious, AB’s cup just as well or better, and Gakurari indeed packs a punch. This coffee is incredibly tasty, bright, and sweet, scoring 87 on the cupping table.
