About the coffee sourcing
Ethiopia is universally recognized as the birthplace of arabica coffee and produces some of the most complex and exciting coffees in the world.
The Guracho washing station is owned and operated by Sibu Coffee Exporters. Sibu Coffee began operations in 2014, and includes staff who has been working with farmers in Guji for over 20 years. In addition to their commercial activities in and around Guracho village, Sibu Coffee is actively invested in community development projects. The Guracho Primary School is located just a kilometer from Sibu’s washing station and many of Sibu’s farmers have children in attendance.
The Guracho washing station sits and at an elevation of 1900 – 2100 masl. The cooler temperatures at higher elevations allow coffee cherries to develop slowly, resulting in a sweeter and more complex cup. The farmers of Guracho grow the Typica variety and harvest between October – January.
Tasting Notes:
Tropical fruit and green-tea like aromatics give way to flavors of peach, cranberry, and lime in the cup with a lasting herbal finish. This elegant coffee is easily recognized on the cupping table and is a house favorite year after year.
