    The Red Shed in Ship Creek is where it all began. We fired up our first roaster in a big red shed across the street from where locomotives park and we could feel the ground shake when they rumbled to life. As an ode to our beginnings, we were inspired to create a blend from Tanzania and Burundi that represents everything we love about coffee: complexity, dense sweetness, and of course incredible flavor.

    The Asociación de Productores Cafetaleros Solidarios de San Ignacio (APROCASSI) was formed in 2000, originally as an effort to protest the mining companies who were flocking to the area to harvest precious metals. Set on protecting their land, a small group of farmers banded together and formed an association which they named APROCASSI. The cooperative is focused on keeping youth in coffee, as well as women’s income diversification.

    In 2005, Jesus Perez Juan began looking for new opportunities to commercialize his micro-lot coffee. Since then, not only has he improved the production system and quality of his coffees, but he has also increased the size of his lots of certified Fair Trade and Organic beans. The coffee plants on Juan’s farm are grown in the shade of avocado and citrus trees, yielding an inviting and layered cup.
